1. Introduction & Overview

Batch & Scoop ("we", "our", or "us") provides recipe formulation, food-science calculation, and production management software for ice cream makers, pastry chefs, and commercial creameries.

We take a privacy-first approach to software development. We do not sell user data, we do not rent email lists to ingredient brokers, and we do not monetize customer analytics.

Anonymous formulation tools on our website do not require an account and execute chemistry calculations locally in your browser or through ephemeral state, leaving zero traces on our database unless you explicitly save a recipe to your account.

3. Information We Collect

We only collect information necessary to deliver our services:

• Account Information: When you register an account, we collect your email address, optional display name, and authentication credentials (always encrypted).
• Formulation & Shop Data: When saved to your account, we store recipe ingredients, weights, custom ingredient properties (fat, PAC, POD, total solids), batch yields, and ingredient unit purchase costs.
• Transaction Records: For paid commercial subscriptions (Single Scoop, Premium Scoop, Pro Scoop), subscription status and billing periods are maintained via Stripe. We do not collect or store full credit card numbers.
• Direct Inquiries: When submitting our contact form, we collect your name, email, topic, and message text to respond to your support request.
• Usage Analytics: We collect anonymous usage data to improve site performance and identify popular tools and features. This data does not include any personally identifiable information and it is not collected by large tech companies known for violating your privacy to serve ads.
• Server Logs: Like most web services, we maintain temporary server logs for security and troubleshooting purposes. These logs are automatically purged on a regular schedule and do not contain sensitive personal data.

4. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to:

• Provide real-time calculations for freeze points, overrun, PAC, POD, and ingredient cost breakdowns.
• Synchronize and save recipes across your authorized devices and team members.
• Dispatch account verification, password resets, and customer support communications.
• Process commercial subscription billing and prevent automated abuse.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party providers that satisfy strict data privacy standards:

• Stripe: Payment processing. Card details are transmitted directly to Stripe via tokenized elements and never hit our servers.
• Zoho ZeptoMail: Transactional email service for partner inquiries, contact submissions, and administrative notifications.
• Supabase: Managed Postgres database and user authentication adhering to SOC2 and encrypted transit/rest protocols.
• Umami Analytics: Privacy-focused analytics that collects anonymous usage data to improve site performance and identify popular tools.

6. Security & Data Protection

We employ industry-standard encryption protocols (TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest). Access to customer databases is strictly role-restricted to vetted engineering personnel for operational maintenance.

7. Retention, Export & Deletion

You retain full rights to your data under GDPR, CCPA, and applicable privacy laws:

• Data Export: You can export recipe ingredient costs, recipes, and formulation calculations via CSV and JSON at any time from your account dashboard.
• Account Deletion: If you close your account, all associated private recipes, custom ingredients, and historical batch logs are permanently purged from active databases.

8. Cookies & Analytics Policy

We prioritize non-invasive analytics. We use Umami Analytics, an open, privacy-focused analytics engine that operates without cookies and does not track personal visitor identities or cross-site activities.

Essential session cookies are used solely to preserve your login session across page refreshes.
